Harbour Diorama

This limited edition wooden diorama picture features a harbour scene with cottages and a steamboat, inspired by my love of the Scottish coastline and its picturesque fishing villages. Part of an ordnance survey map of the northwest coast of Scotland forms the backdrop of the picture. The design comes from original drawings which have been transformed into layers of laser cut wood, which I have then screen printed by hand and built up to form 3d layers.

Each diorama I make is completely unique; please be aware that the map segment used will be different to the one in the photograph.

The wood I use to print on is high quality birch ply. It has a lovely grain which adds another element to the picture's pattern and depth. The layers of wood are set into a glazed wooden box frame, which measures just over 24 cm; the scene itself measures 20cm x 20cm.
Because the wood is a natural material, the grain will vary in each piece. I use non-toxic inks and FSC approved wood.
